FAQ & Troubleshooting

The app is blocked on first launch

macOS will refuse an unidentified developer until you allow it. That is expected until the app is notarized.

1. Open Nolagmind from Applications; when the system blocks it, click Done.
2. System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway next to Nolagmind.
3. Confirm if prompted.

First launch would not let me open my existing notes

First launch only creates a vault. Open an existing folder afterwards from the vault switcher or vault:. See Bring your notes.

Notes I expected are missing

• Confirm you opened the folder that actually contains the .md files (vault: shows the path).
• images/ and attachments/ next to a note are not listed as note folders.
• Boards are *.board.json and mind maps are *.mindmap.md. A canvas or whiteboard from another app will not appear as those.
• Hidden config folders from other apps (for example .obsidian) are unused. Nolagmind does not import plugins or Dataview.

A wikilink does not go where I expect

• [[Note#Heading]] does not jump to a heading — see Linking Notes.
• After a rename, links in the vault are rewritten automatically. Links inside files another app still has open may look stale until they reload.

Search cannot find a note I know exists

Plain search matches titles and aliases, not body text. Use grep: / g: for contents, or tag: for tags. Ranking details are in Search & Colon Commands.

Task View is empty but I have checkboxes in notes

Task View only lists tasks from boards, not Markdown -[ ] lists.

Custom slash commands vanished on another Mac

They are stored in the app, per vault, not as files in the folder. Recreate them on the other machine, or see Editing & Markdown.

Updates never appear

1. Confirm you are online and that nolagmind.com is reachable.
2. Settings → About → Check for Updates (Cmd+,, or settings: about).
3. The app also checks every time you launch. A new version downloads in the background and offers Restart Now, or installs the next time you quit.

If a check fails, the About section shows an error. Discord is the fastest way to report that.

Daily notes and Calendar do nothing

Enable daily notes for this vault — from the vault card or Settings → Daily Notes. Then Cmd+D and calendar / calendar view / daily calendar work. See Daily Notes.

How do I uninstall?

Quit Nolagmind, drag it out of Applications to the Trash. Your vault folder is not inside the app; deleting the app does not delete your notes. Settings and custom slash commands live in the app’s local storage and go away with the app.
