Daily Notes & Calendar

One keystroke to today's note, and a calendar to walk back through time.

A daily note is a regular note created for you automatically, once a day, so you always have somewhere to write without picking a title or folder first. Turn them on from a vault’s card in the vault switcher.

  • Cmd+D — open today’s note (created automatically if it doesn’t exist yet)
  • Option+[ / Option+] — jump to the previous / next day’s note, if one exists

Once daily notes are on, calendar view (open it from search: calendar view or daily calendar) becomes a lot more useful — every day with a note gets a dot, click a dotted day to open it, or click an empty day to create one instantly.

Use daily notes for a running journal, meeting or standup logs, a lightweight task log, or a daily hub that links out to whatever you worked on that day. Over time they become a timeline of your own work.
